Linda Karlsson
Chair of the Events Committee
The Board of Directors is a fundamental part of the Chamber and a big reason for its success. As so, we wanted to get to know them better and this time we met with Linda Karlsson, Chair of the Events Committee.
Hi Linda! Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what you do?
Hello! I’m one of the Directors of Happy Rabbit, an outsourced buying office with focus on quality assurance within the fashion industry.
When we (my husband and I) started this company in 2007, our focus was sourcing and production which has developed and tilted towards quality assurance as our main business. We moved to Thailand in 2007 followed by Hong Kong in 2008, which was our destination from the start with one year of preparation and about 100 meters of documents for our visa applications. All worth it.
The global business map is constantly evolving and we adopt to that with proactive tech-driven developments and hands-on improvements, to meet our customer needs and make their daily business as smooth as possible.
What would you say it is like working with a Swedish brand in Hong Kong and southern China?
I think that our core values as Swedes are beneficial in the business climate here. We know that relationships and trust are highly valuable when doing business and with our honesty, inclusiveness and insights we can accomplish a great deal.
What made you engage in SwedCham?
The people! It’s all about all of you. Every single member and the level of engagement of everyone is the key and inspiration for me and my company.
According to you, what is the greatest benefit of being a member of the Chamber?
Meeting other members and exchange experiences have meant a lot throughout the years. SwedCham has done and is doing a great job to provide a wide range of activities with all the inspirational speakers, experience sharing lunches, parties and webinars to name a few. I’m grateful to be a part of that and very impressed by the level of the General Managers and interns and what they achieve on a daily basis, for all of us.
What do you wish to achieve as a Board Member in SwedCham?
I do think that SwedCham has delivered insightful and memorable events, considering the challenging last years and I’m impressed of what we have achieved during this time. My initial thought was a more diversified field of experiences. New businesses and members that might not be in the traditional sector requires innovative solutions and events and I think that our openness and curiosity that we all possess is key in that progress.

Finally, when you aren’t working, do you have a hidden gem in Hong Kong you like to visit?
Taking a boat to Po Toi is always a favorite. The family running the seafood restaurant there are amazing, and the food is delicious. There might be some MSG in the food and that might be one of the reasons it’s so good.
And then of course hiking, hiking and hiking. Love it! I think that some of the best ones are on Lantau, like Sunset Peak and in Sai Kung with the long beach at Tai Long Wan. Breathtaking scenery… You will never get tired of that.
It’s also the small things, like taking the Star Ferry, no traffic jams, just a slow peaceful ride across Victoria Harbour or taking a stroll in a neighborhood that I haven’t been to before, exploring the city and finding one of those small shops that sell everything you didn’t know you wanted.
Po Toi island.
