REPOST FROM SAS:
Since launching the route to Hong Kong SAS has faced challenges and the route has not attracted enough passengers. In October 2018 the route was moved from Stockholm to Copenhagen so SAS could offer travelers a more attractive timetable to and from Hong Kong. However, despite these alterations, the demand from travelers hasn’t met our expectations.
The lower than expected demand has been enforced by the outbreak of COVID-19 in the region earlier this year. Altogether, and with the current situation at hand, where demand for air travel is non-existent due to the global corona outbreak, SAS has now decided to suspend its Hong Kong route. SAS is determined to continue to serve Scandinavia from Asia including offering direct routes and connectivity from a number of cities in the region, for both business and leisure travel. Through partnerships with Air China, China Eastern, Hong Kong Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon, SAS offers smooth connections from Hong Kong and Southern China via Shanghai and Beijing to Scandinavia. Our Shanghai and Beijing routes will soon be operated by our new Airbus A350, the world’s most modern and fuel-efficient aircraft. At the moment SAS has temporarily discontinued its flights from Shanghai and Beijing in China due to the corona outbreak. SAS will continue to fly to destinations from mainland China, as soon as the situation allows. Our local sales team in Beijing is available to assist you, please feel free to contact them on +852 3106 0918, Monday – Friday 09.00 – 17.00. We thank you for your support in the past and looking forward to our cooperation in the future! Best regards, Anders Wahlström General Manager & Chief Representative Greater China |
